If you were lucky enough to snag a deluxe edition of the game, you're probably wondering which of them will have your opponents crying. Even if you only copped the standard version of The Show, I've got all the info you need on the best picks in this year's installment. Let's get into it!

↖ Cornerstone Captains: Every Player Needs Them

No matter which copy of The Show 24 you copped, you'll be getting a Cornerstone pack at some point soon. Whenever that happens, don't hesitate to grab Byron Buxton as one of your two captains. Overall, Buxton sits at an 88 and is an absolute monster when it comes to power and speed. Sure, his vision and contact could use a little work sometimes but he'll be hitting against some really low-rated pitchers early on – giving him plenty of time to obliterate them! Also remember that captains receive a boost so if you end up wanting someone else instead later on down the line, feel free to trade Buxton for another player.

↖ Legend Pack: For Those Who Bought MVP or Higher

If you managed to grab either The Show 24 MVP Edition or one of the higher-tier versions of the game, congratulations! You've got quite a few special packs coming your way – including Legend Packs. In this pack alone there are three diamonds for you to choose from: Chase Utley (a jack-of-all-trades who specializes in mid-70s to low-80s stats), Adrian Beltre (an incredible fielder who can also play shortstop), and Richie Sexson (one-hundred+ power from both sides). Just don't put Sexson anywhere other than first base.

↖ Barrier Breakers: Exclusive to Deluxe Upgraders

As expected, these cards can only be obtained by those who upgraded their copy of The Show 24 to the deluxe edition. But if you did make that upgrade – consider yourself lucky! Josh Gibson is by far the best catcher on offer for pre-order packs this year, with great power and even better defense. Tony Stone isn't a home run hitter either, but he has exceptional contact and decent power numbers at second base – plus, he's super speedy with an 80 speed rating. Buck Leonard and Hank Aaron are also good options, but Martin Dihigo is the one you want to pair with Beltre. A two-way player who can (and should) play any secondary position you choose, Dihigo has gold defense, eighty+ speed, and mid-90s power.
